In Loving Memory

Dorothy Edith Stuart (nee Bradshaw)

Our dear Mum & Granny, Dorothy Stuart left us on March 11, 2024, where she is now in heaven with The Lord, who she had served so faithfully for her entire life.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters Heather (Bruce) of Sherwood Park, AB.; Sue of Kamloops, BC.  Her granddaughters Lindsay (Ryan); Erin (Mike) and great-grandchildren Makenzie, Kaiden & Charlee of Sherwood Park & Edmonton.  Sister-in-laws Judith & Donna and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Neil; son Bill; her parents Charles & Cecily Bradshaw, brothers Graham;  George (Patt);  sisters Margy (Eric); Pauline (Stuart).  Her In-Laws William & Isabella Stuart & brother-in-law Jack.

Dorothy was born on December 5, 1937 in Hampstead-Heath, England.  In 1939 the family moved to Kamloops.

Dorothy was a very active member of St. George’s Anglican Church. She too, was quite involved with Inclusion (formerly Kamloops Society for Community Living).  Plus a member of the Parents Support group for the mentally handicapped and always willing to give help & support to new parents.  She was always there to help with Special Olympic events & fundraising.   But most of all she was a very dedicated wife, mother & Granny, always putting her family & friends above herself.

A celebration of life will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops on Friday August 23, 2024 at 11:00 am.

We would like to thank those who cared for Dorothy, her last couple years at Overlander Residential Care.   In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of BC would be appreciated.

Dorothy was my neighbour for over 40 years, she was one of the first to welcome me and my family to the neighborhood. I will always fondly remember the thousands of conversations we had over the fence.
Rest in peace my dear friend

Many memories of Mrs Stuart as she was Billy’s mom. My little brother Ward Johnson and Billy went to Fitzwater School together back in the 70’s and were friends. When I think of Dorothy I always remember her supporting the different function’s for KCSL along with my mother Anne Johnson. Dorothy worked tirelessly at bowling functions, Special O, Etc Etc. Ward passed away Feb 4th of 2023 at the age of 57, just 2 days short of his 58th. Hopefully these 2 very special boys are hanging out together. Your mom gave tirelessly to the local mentally challenged functions through the years. God bless Mrs Stuart and Thank you 🙏🏼

Although my time spent knowing Dorothy was short I came to see the dedication to family, church and community , and a sense of humour. Thank you Dorothy it was a pleasure to meet you.
