July 12, 1933 – March 10, 2026

Arthur Robert “Bob” Laughton Dodds passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 10, 2026, in Vernon at the age of 92.

Bob was born on July 12, 1933, in Vancouver to Walter “Scotty” Grieve Dodds and Margaret Kate Amelia Greenwood. His family eventually moved to Armstrong, where he was raised and spent much of his life.

During the early 1950s, Bob was an accomplished lacrosse goalie and proudly played for teams in Armstrong, Nanaimo, and Penticton. In 1956, he travelled from Vancouver to Japan for an intensive three-month course in judo, where he earned his black belt.

Bob married Hellen Victoria “Vicky” Becker in 1958 at St. James Anglican Church in Armstrong. He later married Dawn Reimer in 2017, who remained his partner in life.

Throughout his career, Bob worked as a traveling salesman and developed a deep appreciation for antiques. His passion eventually led him to open ‘Dodds Auction’, and later ‘Antique Imports’, where he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with collectors and customers alike.

Bob was an avid fisherman and spent much of his free time at Pinaus Lake, a place that many could say became his second home until the resort’s closure in 2017.

Bob was a natural storyteller and people were drawn to him wherever he went. He had a remarkable ability to make friends easily and was known for his energy and larger-than-life presence. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob was predeceased by his mother and father; his brother Walter “Wally” Gordon Dodds; and his first wife, Vicky.

He is survived by his wife Dawn; his daughters Carmen Dodds (Bill Kirkland), Lorri Dodds, and Patty Dodds; his granddaughters Jessica Kirkland, Tammy Irving (Ryan Risling), Ali Kirkland, and Katie Coles (Rob Hunt); and his great-grandchildren Kristina Risling, Ethan and Liam Hunt, and Quinn Kirkland.

Bob will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of fishing and antiques, and the many friendships he made throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
