Anne Isabel Johnston

Anne Isabel Johnston, (nee Simard), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Kamloops, British Columbia at the age of 90 years. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Don Johnston, in 2016.

Anne will be forever cherished by her sons, lan (Haleen), Mark (Linda), Keith (Joanne) and Kent; her grandchildren, Sarah, Genevieve, Brad, Nick, John and Ronnie; and by her greatgrandchildren Keiran and Maya.

Anne was born on August 18, 1934, in St. Lazare, Manitoba and later moved to Richmond, British Columbia. Anne was the oldest of eleven siblings. Anne joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956. There she met and married Donald Johnston on April 27, 1957, in St. Adolph de Howard, Quebec.

She retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force to raise her four boys, moving frequently as Don was transferred between stations in France and across Canada. She later became civilian cook with the Canadian Armed Forces until her retirement in 1994.

Upon retirement. Anne enjoyed golfing and volunteering in the communities she lived. She was a dog lover, a prodigious knitter and a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

A memorial service celebrating Anne’s life will be held at next spring in Kamloops, British Columbia.

If friends so desire, memorial donations in Anne’s name may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #35, 2526 Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Armstrong, BC., VOE 1BO; or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
