Alvin Joseph Raboch
October 14, 1933 - April 4, 2026
In Loving Memory
Alvin Joseph Raboch

We are saddened to share that Alvin passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 4, 2026. He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Born in Enderby on October 14, 1933 Alvin grew up with his siblings Gerald and Henry in Trinity Valley, attending Trinity School near their family farm. Farm life was filled with many chores, but also included sledding in winter, listening to hockey games on a transistor radio—which he avidly followed for over sixty-five years—caring for chickens or fishing in Trinity Creek.
While their father served in WWII, Alvin and his brothers matured quickly as they adopted all the day-to-day tasks while their father was away. They eagerly awaited letters from overseas.
After finishing high school in Enderby, Alvin joined his father and brother at Raboch Sawmills for several years (later Riverside Forest Products), married Elsie, and pursued further education to become a teacher. He launched his teaching career at his childhood school, dedicating 25 years to education at various schools. Together Alvin and Elsie had four daughters. Alvin married Peggy in 1978.
After teaching, Alvin returned to the family business becoming a log buyer at Riverside Forest Products, staying until his retirement at sixty-five. For three decades, he served as a Credit Union director and supported his community through various volunteer roles.
Alvin’s enthusiasm for nature shone through—he often remarked on timber quality during rural excursions. He treasured motorhome trips with his wife Peggy, journeying to Arizona and exploring local sights. Following Peggy’s passing, Alvin moved from the family farm into an Enderby apartment and then to Heaton Place in Armstrong, meeting each change with patience and grace. His days were filled with picture puzzles, reading, daily exercise—including up to one hundred knee bends—and keeping up to date by reading newspapers and watching the news. Bill, a loyal friend, frequently took him on countryside drives, and Barry, a former student, reconnected with Alvin and visited often, bringing old photos that brightened many days. Alvin always welcomed family visits.
After a stroke in 2023, Alvin spent his remaining years at Heritage Square in Vernon, maintaining his resolve to stay active despite mobility challenges, engaging in activities like weightlifting and games. The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care provided by Heritage Square staff over the last three years.
Alvin was predeceased by his eldest daughters, Carol Louise and Lorali Jane. He leaves behind his daughters Cindy (Thomas) Ferguson and Shelley (Lyle) Sanjenko, stepdaughter Lynne Fulton, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Honoring Alvin’s wishes, no service will be held. Alvin will be laid to rest in the Cliffside Cemetery alongside his parents, Jerry and Anne. He will be remembered fondly. Rest in peace.
