In Loving Memory

Aline Cecile Kyllo

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Aline Cecile Kyllo (Couture), was born on June 6, 1937, in her hometown of Leoville, SK. Her journey with Alzheimer’s disease came to an end on Friday, July 26, 2024. After graduating Grade 12, Aline attended Saskatoon Teachers’ College, Saskatoon, SK, for one year. Her first year teaching was to grades 1 to 8 in a one-room school in Witchecan Lake, SK. She also taught at Prudholm and Delmas in Saskatchewan, as well as Edmonton and Grimshaw in Alberta. In 1967, she attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton to complete her degree and graduated with a Bachelor of Education. In 1968, she moved to Edson, AB and taught in the French programs for the Yellowhead School Division at Pinegrove, Central and Evergreen elementary schools. There she met Ted, who worked for the Hudson Bay Oil & Gas plant, and they were married on July 4, 1970. Her last eight years teaching Grade 3 French Immersion were her most cherished; and in 1991, she received an Excellence in Teaching Award from the Alberta government. She retired at 55 in order to spend more time with her ailing mother in Leoville, and she spent time as a tutor when at home. After Ted retired, they spent the next 14 years as snowbirds, travelling in their fifth-wheel/motorhome to California, Arizona, and even a 6-week trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They also travelled to Costa Rico, Belize, and New Zealand, with their best trip taking them to Australia for 2.5 months. Aline enjoyed playing cards and other games, such as Aggravation, as well as hiking, walking and shopping at thrift stores and garage sales. Looking for bargains was always her goal. She loved ice cream, especially soft serve, and she also enjoyed hard candies of all sorts. Her family and friends will fondly remember her joy in laughter and her delightfully mischievous spirit. Aline is survived by her loving husband Ted (Vernon, BC); son Dale (Edson, AB) and grandkids, Aiden and Kirsten (Edmonton, AB); daughter Valerie and husband Braam (Edmonton, AB); sister-in-law Lynn (Montreal, QC); sister-in-law Claire (Saskatoon, SK); sister Rita and husband Peter (Wasaga Beach, ON). She was predeceased by her parents, Adelard and Isabelle Couture, and her brothers, Maurice Couture and Paul Couture. Aline was a longtime friend of Lois & Bill W. We are very grateful for the exceptional care and dedication of the healthcare professionals at B Villa, Creekside Landing long-term care and her doctor, Dr. Catherine Brown. A Celebration of Life, will be held September 17, 2024 at 11:00AM at Cypress Funeral & Cremation 2980 Smith Drive Armstrong, BC, with a reception to follow.
