Barbara Anne Vandenberg

Barbara Anne Vandenberg, a longtime member of the Armstrong farming community, passed away suddenly on September 24, 2026, at the age of 90.

Barbara is survived by Walter, her loving husband of 47 years; her son Brad and daughter-in-law Cindy; her daughter Bonnice; her grandchildren, Crystal, Josef, and Chandal; and four great-grandchildren, Ryker, Evelyn, Sterling, and Emmett.

Known for her sharp wit, lively spirit, and unmistakable zest for life, Barbara had a gift for bringing humour and warmth to those around her. She was a woman of strong character and generous nature, always mindful of others, particularly those facing hardship.

Animals held an especially dear place in Barbara’s heart. She devoted much of her life to caring for creatures in need, offering them shelter, affection, and the chance for a better life. Her concern for their welfare was one of the many ways she expressed her deeply compassionate nature.

Barbara leaves behind fond memories, countless stories, and a legacy of kindness that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC SPCA Shuswap Community Animal Centre, honouring Barbara’s enduring commitment to the welfare of animals.
