Gordon Lee Johnson (Leroy Piche)

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Lee Johnson, of Kamloops, British Columbia, on August 27, 2026, at the age of 74.

Gord was a quiet, private man, but those who were fortunate enough to truly know him knew how deeply he cared. He didn’t always need to say much to show how he felt. His love was found in the things he did, the people he cared for, and the quiet ways he was always there.

Gord was a Journeyman Interprovincial Millwright, a trade he took tremendous pride in. Throughout his career, he worked at many mills and mines across British Columbia and Alberta. He was exceptionally skilled at what he did, and his work was an important part of who he was. He took great pride in doing a job well and in knowing that his years of hard work had meaning.

Away from work, Gord had a passion for motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. There was something about the open road that spoke to him—the freedom, the sound of the motorcycle, and the miles ahead. Riding gave Gord a sense of peace and adventure, and it was something he truly loved.

Gord also possessed an incredible artistic talent. His pencil drawings and wood carvings were created with patience, creativity, and an attention to detail that was uniquely his. The beautiful pieces he left behind will become treasured reminders of him and will allow a little piece of Gord to live on in the homes and hearts of those who loved him.

Gord leaves behind his beloved wife, Annette Piche, who shared his life and his journey; his children, Brendon Lee Piche (Jayme) and Shelbi-Lynn Piche; and his grandchildren, Silas and Hayden Dyck, Baya Piche, Lily Piche, and Alden Piche.

His family was an important part of his life, and although Gord may not have been one to openly express his emotions, his love for them ran deep.

There are some people whose absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. Gord is one of those people.

We will all miss his presence.

We will all miss his quiet ways.

We will all miss his stories, his talents, his strength, and simply knowing he was there.We will hold close the memories of the man we loved—the hardworking millwright, the artist, the motorcycle enthusiast, the private and caring man, and most importantly, the husband, father, grandfather, and friend who meant so much to so many.

His hands may no longer be here to create, his motorcycle may no longer be on the road, and his voice may no longer be heard, but the life he lived and the love he gave will remain with us.

Until we meet again, Gord, Dad, Grandpa, ride free.
