Odilia Elizabeth “Dilly” Blurton (nee Erker)

Odilia Elizabeth “Dilly” Blurton (nee Erker) passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, in Armstrong, BC.

Born in Unity, Saskatchewan, Dilly grew up on her family’s farm, and then in 1958 moved to Langley, BC where they bought a dairy. In 1960 they relocated to Enderby BC. After graduating she relocated to Vancouver and trained to be an RN at Vancouver General Hospital. Graduating in the spring of 1968, she worked there briefly before marrying Jack Blurton in August. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Once married they moved for Jack’s jobs in Prince Rupert and Fernie. She worked at hospitals in both towns until her two children were born.  They then moved to Sparwood, where they lived for 32 years. Dilly worked at the Sparwood and Fernie hospitals, and volunteered with St. Michael’s Church and local groups. In retirement, she and Jack returned to Armstrong.

Dilly loved cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting and crafting in general. She played a mean game of Scrabble, loved her trips to Europe and Eastern Canada, and the numerous road trips with Jack to see her grandchildren. Known for her quick wit, she kept Jack humble by reminding him that if she didn’t laugh at his jokes, it was not because she didn’t get them, it was because they weren’t funny. She loved her family so much, and they all loved Nana. 

She is survived by her husband, Jack; her children, Danny (Dawn) and Christy (Brad); and her grandchildren, Sydney, Tyler, Kai, and Marisa.

As per Dilly’s request, no service will be held; a family gathering will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.
