Helen Eva Verna Kerr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Eva Verna Kerr on September 7, 2026. Born and raised in Kamloops, BC, to her loving parents Violet and Irwin, Helen lived a vibrant and full life defined by her hard work, her love for the local range, and her fierce devotion to her family.

Helen’s journey began on the historic Harper Ranch, where her lifelong love for the cowboy way of life was born. Growing up, she was proudly involved in 4H and spent many of her early years riding the range with the cowboys. Among them, she frequently rode with Wally Bray, a notable and respected ranch hand and 4H leader.

Her deep connection to animals remained a constant throughout her life. Her beloved blue heeler, Ringo, truly meant everything to her. He was her faithful companion, following her around the ranch and keeping close while she worked. He would often lay on the hood of her truck, patiently waiting for her to finish whatever needed to be done around the ranch. No matter how long she was gone, Ringo was always there waiting for her.

As a devoted single mother, Helen’s greatest pride and joy were her daughters, Deliece and Danika, whom she raised with unmatched strength, love, and dedication. She devoted her life to giving her girls everything she could, often putting their needs before her own. She worked hard to provide for them, made sacrifices without complaint, and built a home where they always knew they were loved, supported, and safe. She was there for the big moments and the little ones, guiding them through life with a fierce love and determination that never wavered. Being their mom was the role she cherished most, and her daughters were, without question, the greatest accomplishment and source of pride in her life.

She was an incredibly hard worker, giving many years of committed service to both Pollard Bank Note and Walmart. Along the way, she created lifelong friendships with many of her co-workers. In true Helen fashion, she didn’t just go to work—she somehow managed to leave with friends. She had a way of connecting with people, and many of those work friendships became friendships that lasted well beyond the workplace.

When she wasn’t working, Helen could almost always be found tending to her beautiful gardens. She found peace and happiness in watching things grow and took great pride in envisioning and creating beautiful landscapes around her home. Her gardens were a reflection of her patience, creativity, and love for making things beautiful.

Helen was sadly predeceased by her father, Irwin Newton Kerr (1965); her brother, Frankie Roy Alvin Kerr (1975); her mother, Violet May Kerr (1995); and her brother, Raymond Irwin Kerr (1999).

She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories through her daughters, Deliece Megan Wallin and Danika Marie Wallin. She is also survived and dearly missed by her brother, David Clayton Kerr; her sister, Marjorie Edna Lynn Carlson (Bob Carlson); and an entire community of friends and extended family whose lives were touched by her.

For Deliece and Danika, losing their mom means losing the person who had been at the centre of their lives for as long as they can remember. Helen was their mother, their home, their constant, and the person they could always count on. The home they shared together was filled with love, laughter, hard work, and countless memories that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. It was a home built around family, and Helen was its heart.

Her daughters are utterly heartbroken to have to say goodbye to their mom. There are no words that can truly express the emptiness her absence leaves behind, or how deeply she will be missed. They will hold close every memory, every laugh, every lesson, and all the love she gave them. Helen’s greatest legacy will always be the two daughters she loved fiercely and the life they built together—a life full of memories that will remain long after she is gone.

Helen will be remembered for her strength, her hard-working spirit, her love of family and animals, her beautiful gardens, her sense of humour, and the friendships she made wherever life took her. Most of all, she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to the people who mattered most.
