Deborah Huckabay

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah Huckabay on September 2, 2026, in Vernon, BC after a courageous battle with cancer.  Deb was born June 6,1953 in Port Alberni, BC and resided in Armstrong, BC for the last 27+ years.  She loved to spend time going camping, planting and growing her beautiful flower garden, installing solar lights in their beautiful back yard, going south for the cold winters, socializing with friends and family, traveling, soaking up the sun on her pontoon boat and playing games. She enjoyed making other people happy, welcoming everyone into her home. She owned several businesses including a book and lotto store on Vancouver Island, Books and Bagels in Armstrong, and a lottery kiosk in Vernon.  She excelled in all her business ventures and always had a smile and a kind thing to say.  

She enjoyed going to the beach, Englishman River and Cameron Lake when her children were young. She spent many hours outside and you could always find her near or on the water. One of the happiest days of her life is when her granddaughter Annika was born. She loved spending time with her granddaughter coloring eggs for easter, dressing up and going trick or treating, going to the swimming pool, heading to the playground, doing crafts, painting rocks, and just chilling together. 

Everywhere Deb went, she made friends. She loved to laugh and lived life to its fullest. She fearlessly got to check off a bucket list item when she went white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River with both her children at the age of 71.  She was very proud of both her children. She got to do her dream trip to Europe for her 60th birthday with her sister and their spouses and they had a fabulous time. She was an incredible mom, sister, daughter, friend and the best grandma anyone could ask for. She is survived by her life partner and best friend Norm, her children Nicole (Darren) and Larry (Deanna), grandchildren Annika, Carter, and siblings Ron (Karen), Teresa (Lloyd), Gary (Jen) and Rick (Lorna). She leaves behind her ex-husband Harold and many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Vivian Doucette and her father Percy Doucette. Deb, you will be greatly missed and are loved by many. We love you so very much, RIP. 

A celebration of life will be next year, and more information and a save the date will be available once arrangements are made.
