In Loving Memory
Eva Gosselin

Eva was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba on February 28, 1938, into a Ukrainian family with 6 brothers. She grew up on a farm in Meadowlands with mixed livestock and no near neighbours. She and the boys attended school in a one room school house a mile and a half from home. Eva didn’t learn English until attending school.
Eva studied to be a Nurse’s Aide at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, Sask. There she met Claude, who worked at the hospital, as well. They married in 1958, and had 4 children (Claudette, Calvin, Dale and Sherry). When Eva and Claude moved to Salmon Arm, Eva got a job at the Salmon Arm hospital as a Dietician Aide.
Eva loved being a homemaker and is renowned throughout the family as a fantastic cook. She was especially good at the Ukrainian specialties, like perogies and cabbage rolls. No one ever left hungry after a dinner with Eva. She also kept lovely flower gardens, and would crochet blankets for the kids and grandkids.
Retirement turned Claude and Eva into snow birds. In their newly purchased fifth wheel, they spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. They wouldn’t leave until the Christmas holidays were over, as these were always filled with family, food, music and memories.
Eva was a kind, quiet, respectful and easy going person with a wonderful sense of humour. Eva’s faith was very important to her, and she enjoyed her time attending church and singing in the church choir. She was always well put together, and her hair has always been her crowning glory.
