Martha (Marti) Darel

Martha (Marti) Darel of Kamloops passed away on August 15, 2026, at 79 years of age.

She is survived by her loving husband Ray Darel, children Aimee (Jim) McCrae of Dawson Creek, Melody McCrae of Abbotsford, BC, Andrea (Rod) Vanderzalm of Ottawa, Ont,

Rae-Ann Darel of Chilliwack, BC, Shelly Darel of Chilliwack, BC, Kevin Darel of Vedder, BC, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Ann Budalich, Genoa Ellingham, Fred (Jan) Berg, Larry (Ann) Berg, Lynn Berg and Terry Berg. Marti is survived by many nieces and nephews that are scattered throughout Canada.

She was predeceased by her parents Abe and Anne Berg and her sister Eileen Derksen.

Marti had 7 mustangs, her dream car, and we like to remember being pulled back into the seat as she hit the gas, her hair flying and her huge smile. She loved crocheting afghans and winterwear for her loved ones. Family was her heart.  She worked as a safety coordinator for Wiebe Construction in Abbotsford for years. She worked at Zellers in Kamloops for 15 years. She trained as a hairdresser and worked in a shop with her sister Eileen for many years. She loved to travel and dreamed of far a way places. She loved crossword puzzles and crime shows and liquid art painting, she did needlework until her hands got arthritis.  Marti loved reading, candy, shopping for deals and red hair, at the end she really missed having red hair.

A Celebration of her life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Barnhartvale Community Hall, 7390 Barnhartvale Road.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
