David Alexander Ferguson
Dave was born in Prince Rupert, B.C. on May 19, 1950 and passed away in his 77th year, on July 27th, 2026.
Dave was raised in Prince Rupert with his Parents, Jack (John Hamilton) and Hilda Ferguson and his brothers Art, Robert and Jimmy. Those early years were spent in legendary mischievousness with his brothers and friends around the streets of Prince Rupert. He also spent time working with the local family business, the Ferguson Funeral Home. Teen years he worked at Overwaitea Grocery store.
He was employed by the pulp mill in Prince Rupert as a Millwright for 30+ years, until he moved to Armstrong, BC in 1999, with his wife Patti. There he was semi-retired but enjoyed his employment as a garbage truck driver for Jim Heaton. In truth, he loved it – driving around Spallumcheen, starting and finished before most people started their day!
He was well known for the coffee times at A&W and the Brown Derby Cafe, often showing up before they opened.
Dave and Patti enjoyed travelling with friends from Armstrong and Prince Rupert. He very much enjoyed fishing (well maybe more the boat ride and the company!) trips with friends in Prince Rupert and even once on Savory Island!
His favourite moments in his life were undoubtedly the times with his grandchildren, Colton and Devon – often teaching them bad habits and feeding them way too much junk food!
Dave is survived by his loving wife Patti, his children Richard and Rachel (Mike) Kampman, his stepsons, Kevin (Raegan) Sawka and Jesse Sawka; Grandchildren Colton (Emily) Lockhart and Devon (Aaron Flaten) Lockhart; his step-grandsons Cameron and Nathan Sawka; Great Grandchildren, Oliver and Theo Flaten; brothers Arthur (Trudy) and Robert; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws that played a large part in the mosaic of his life. Family and many friends who were family, could not have been more important to him.
Dave was pre-deceased by his Parents, Jack and Hilda Ferguson and his brother Jim Ferguson.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 9th, 2026 at the Oddfellows Hall at 1:00 p.m. in Armstrong, BC (3005 Wood Avenue).
Dave’s battle with Alzheimers showed the true brutality of the disease which take many forms, all of which steal our loved ones away long before they pass away. If you wish you could donate in his name to the Alzheimers Society of BC by using their web site Alzheimerbc.org.

So very sorry to read this. Dave was a wonderful man. I have many memories of him while at my parent’s place when he worked for my dad driving garbage truck. He left his mark as a very kind man who always enjoyed a laugh and a visit. Thinking of you Patti and family as you navigate the loss of such a wonderful man. Take care.
