Alberta Grace (Lafoy) Frost
October 12, 1932 - June 18, 2026
In Loving Memory
Alberta Grace (Lafoy) Frost

Alberta Grace (Lafoy) Frost was born on October 12, 1932, at the family homestead in Notikewin, Alberta, near Manning. She passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 93. Alberta was the youngest of thirteen children born to Edith and Erastus Lafoy.
When Alberta was six years old, the family moved to Malakwa, British Columbia. Her mother passed away when Alberta was 12, and her father when she was 14. She then moved to Armstrong to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Olive and Rip Van Wicklin.
While working at the Armstrong Hotel, Alberta met a young construction worker named Wayne Frost. The two fell in love and were married on Alberta’s 16th birthday. After moving around for several years, they settled in Claresholm, Alberta, in 1951. Their daughter, Anita, was born in 1952. In 1958, they moved to Victoria when Wayne was transferred to the air force base at Colwood following the closure of the base in Claresholm.
In 1969, Alberta and Wayne fulfilled a lifelong dream when they moved to their farm on Schubert Road in Spallumcheen, known as Frosty-Vale. There, they built a life centered around family, farming, and horses. Percherons, and later Shetland ponies, became a major part of their lives. Together, they attended numerous horse shows throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Prairies and became well known and respected for showing and judging horses.
Alberta was deeply committed to her community and generously gave her time to many organizations. She was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge, the Knob Hill Ladies Group, served on the board of the Armstrong Shamrocks Lacrosse Club, volunteered at Pleasant Valley Manor, and was one of the founding members of the Armstrong Loan Cupboard after the Red Cross left Armstrong. In recognition of her many contributions, Alberta received the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Citizen of the Year Award in 1997.
Alberta was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wayne, in 2007, and her daughter, Anita Pieper, in 2018.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jeffery (Shyla) Pieper, Chad Pieper, and Sara (Rob) Kelly; her great-grandchildren, Jacobi Pieper, Oliver Kelly, and Arlie Kelly; and her son-in-law Chris Pieper.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff, and especially the care aides, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Alberta over the past several years.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
