In Loving Memory
Donald Jack Armfelt

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald Jack Armfelt on June 5, 2026 in Vernon at the age of 88. Jack will be missed by his son Daniel (son of Iris Armfelt) his grandsons Samuel and Paul, his stepsons Adam and Derek Forrester (sons of Bernice Forrester), his siblings Karen, Gerald, Larry (Margaret), Raymond (Allison), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children. He is predeceased by his father Hans (1985), mother Helen, (2001) brother Richard (2019), sister-in-law Kayla (2002), brother-in-law Chris (2015), sister-in-law Ann (2020), daughter-in-law Eun uk (2023), and son Stuart (2021).
Jack grew up west of Baptise Lake and attended Winding Trail School from grades 1 to 8, then completed grade 11 in Athabasca. He then left to work throughout BC, Alberta and the Yukon with different organizations doing survey related duties. He then landed a career with BC Hydro, initially as a junior instrument man and later as a Right-of-Way Clearing Inspector. Along the way he met Iris Semeniuk in 1966 in Grand Prairie. They married in 1968, lived in the Coldstream, and had one son. Later he met Bernice Forrester and they had one son. Afterwards, he worked at various jobs (labourer, milk delivery driver, cab driver, herbicide applicator, etc…) until coming full circle to the career he enjoyed the most with Russell Shortt Land Surveyors.
Jack liked watching hockey and baseball. He also delighted in talking about family stories with a historical bent and prefered to spend his time outdoors.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11 am at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services, 2980 Smith Drive in Armstrong. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Athabasca at a later date.
Many thanks to the staff at Silver Springs Seniors Community who cared for him in the last few years. He made some new friends and enjoyed his time there. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital who made his stay as comfortable as possible before his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jack’s memory to the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
