Lois Kathryn Chubocha

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lois Chubocha (nee Appleby) in Vernon, BC on April 12th, 2026.

Lois was born in Armstrong, BC in 1956 to Louise and Edward Appleby and was one of seven children. She had a love for animals from a young age and was passionate about caring for and riding horses.

Lois had various jobs throughout her career, including working at the local supermarket in Lumby in the bakery section. This reflected her love for baking and cooking, which her family was lucky enough to be the recipients of.

Lois was married to her loving husband Nick in 1979, until the day of his passing in 2015. They did everything together, including fishing in the Enderby river with friends, gardening, camping, and of course cooking. When she moved back to Armstrong, she volunteered her time with various different organizations and groups including 4H, judging at the IPE, and at the local thrift store.

She was a loving “Baba” to her grandchildren, often travelling to watch ballet recitals and attend swimming lessons. They loved baking cookies with her, especially during the holidays.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children Adam (Carlita) and Ashley (Chris), grandchildren Cali and Sebastian, sisters Edna and Bernice, brother John and many nieces, nephews and close family members and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Nick, brothers David and Ken, sister Marilyn, parents Louise and Edward, and other extended family members that were dear to her.

We will remember her warmth, love, and generous spirit.
