Alma Louise Marshall

In Loving Memory

Alma Louise Marshall

On April 13, 2026, at the age of 88, Alma unexpectedly passed away at Kelowna General Hospital while awaiting treatment for heart issues.

Born to Frank and Willa Marshall on September 30, 1937, Alma was a lifelong resident of the Armstrong-Spallumcheen area.  Alma obtained a Diploma in Dairy Product Testing and  later worked for many years at both Armstrong Cheese and NOCA Dairy as a Milk Testing Technician for making cheese and butter.

Alma was an active and dedicated member of her community.  Over the years she played and coached basketball and softball, threw a pretty straight bowling ball, and enjoyed many rounds of golf in both Club and tournament play.  Alma always loved watching a good hockey or lacrosse game.

She was a kind-hearted soul with a soft spot for animals.  Highly skilled in horsemanship, she enjoyed trail rides and competed in rodeo/gymkhana events such as barrel racing and calf roping.  She was an integral member of the Armstrong Riding Club and many young people learned to ride under her guidance.

Alma was passionate about gardening, and her prize-winning giant onions were legendary.  For many years Alma volunteered in the horticulture division of the Interior Provincial Exhibition.

Alma is predeceased by her 8 siblings and 5 nephews.   Left to mourn Alma’s passing are 8 nieces, 5 nephews, extended family, as well as many lifelong friends.  She will be missed by her dog Jak and cat Ollie, who have both found new wonderful homes.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church Sanctuary in Armstrong, with a tea to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alma, may be made to the Shuswap SPCA in Salmon Arm or to a charity of your choice.

Alma will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful friend to my Grandparents Cliff and Emily Husband and after Grandma passed then Alma checked in on Grandpa often. Great Lady!

  3. Diana Krauss says:

Alma was very much a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of gal. Reliable and true to her word. I enjoyed my time working with her at the Dairy and keeping in touch after she retired. Condolences to family and friends on her sudden passing.
