In Loving Memory

Margaret Curtis

Margaret Curtis, born on December 4, 1933, in Yorkshire, England, passed away on March 25, 2026, in Vernon, British Columbia, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of Mary (nee- Brook) and Harry Singleton.

Known affectionately as “Maggie” by many, Margaret was a resilient and independent woman who demonstrated a deep commitment to her family. Having experienced the challenges of the Great Depression and wartime, she developed a profound appreciation for life. She dedicated her professional career to nursing, receiving her training from nuns in England, and served as a registered nurse for many years in Calgary, Alberta, providing compassionate care to her patients.

Margaret appreciated the significance of simple moments, such as picnics, family gatherings, and shared meals, often accompanied by engaging conversation. She was an avid reader and possessed a wide-ranging knowledge of various topics. A supportive presence in her loved ones’ lives, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Despite geographic distances, her grandchildren’s diverse locations did not hinder her from staying connected; at the age of 92, she learned to use technology to communicate through weekly video calls with her family.

Margaret is survived by her children, son Martin and daughter Gillian; daughter-in-law Kathi; and son-in-law Bryan. Her grandchildren include Andrea, Brittany, Marysa, and Nicholas. Her great-grandchildren are Angus, Torin, and Olive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Derek; grandson Ryan; and daughter-in-law Kelly.
