In Loving Memory

Zita Claudia Totten

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Zita Claudia Totten aged 70, at Royal Inland Hospital, in Kamloops, BC, held in the love of her son and daughter at her side. Zita spent most of her life in Kamloops.

Born in New Brunswick, Zita was fortunate to have grown up near Aunties and cousins in the early years of childhood. Zita travelled across the country at a young age with her brave mother, arriving in Kamloops where she eventually went to North Kamloops Secondary School as a teenager. MacArthur Island held many fond memories for her – with swimming being one of her greatest pleasures.

Zita is survived by her son, Daniel Johnson, and daughter, Angelina (Terence) Cresnjar; 6 grand-children, and 1 great grand child, of whom she cherished; her sisters, Lia Flack, and Tia (David) Wagner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Sylvia Schlichtenhorst.

Zita is remembered for creating beautiful things: baking, crocheting, painting, playing guitar, colouring. Most of all she loved to be with her family, sharing in laughter and story-telling. Sharp as a tack, she never missed a word!

Zita will be remembered for many things; most of all for her faith in Jesus Christ. We have great hope that we will see her again because she trusted Jesus as her Saviour and Lord. Jesus promised that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life and He will raise them up in the last day. May that be a witness for all of us to believe as Zita did in Jesus Christ.

Revelation 21:4 says, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Jesus gives peace and hope to live every day. Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me;”

This summer, the family will gather for a private water burial ceremony at the lake where she spent so many treasured days camping with us.
