(February 12, 1957 – January 1, 2026)
A longtime, cherished resident of Vernon, BC, Laurene
passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice on January 1,
2026, surrounded by care and compassion.
Born on February 12, 1957, Laurene built a life rooted in
family, kindness, and community. She was known for her
warmth, her strength, and her deep love for those closest to her. Vernon was her home for
many years, and she leaves behind countless memories with family and friends who were
touched by her gentle spirit.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Vicki(Chris) Topping, her son, Garth (Jenny)
Gartner, and by her treasured grandchildren, Taylor, Jordyn, Cole, Peyton, and Kendal, all of
whom brought her immense pride and joy. Her love, guidance, and quiet strength will
continue to live on through them.
She is survived by her siblings Mel (Irene) Reade, Don (Ev) Reade, Bev (Ira) Johnson, Rob
(Karen) Reade, Tracey Reade, mother-in-law Eilene (Lloyd) May, in-laws Brenda (Lawrie)
Haynes, Darwin (Jackie) Gartner, Diana (Graeme) Welton, Gord (Paul) Palmer, John Palmer,
Michelle (Rob) Eccles. She will be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews, and many
friends. She is predeceased by her husband Kevin, parents Robert and Laura Reade,
Brother-in-law Ira, sister-in-Law Irene, sister-in-law Nadine Gartner and father-in-law
William Palmer.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
The family is grateful for the kindness and support shown during this time and for the
compassionate care provided by the staff at Vernon Hospice.
