In Loving Memory
Marion Lavon Sawchuk

Marion Lavon Sawchuk of Merritt, BC passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at age 86 with her daughter Rhonda by her side.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda Lynn Sawchuk of Merritt and Jackie Lynn McPherson of Kelowna and brothers John and Alec McPherson.
She was predeceased by her sister, Irene Dunn and her husband Tony Sawchuk.
Marion embodied steadfast love and practical wisdom, and a fierce devotion to family, friends and community. Marion’s generosity was well known within the community as she was recognized as part of ‘Women of the Year’ for the volunteer work she had provided over a number of years, particularly the Merritt Legion. Outside of her most recent work Marion was a veteran of the RCAF where she proudly served as a ‘fighter control operator’ from 1958 to 1964. Her job involved monitoring aircraft, which earned her the nickname ‘Tracker’. Marion was in her element being outdoors. Give her a lawn tractor and a weed whacker and she was queen of the yard mowing with pride and precision. She could split and stack wood like a pro and always had a knack for turning chores into a joy. She loved being by the bonfire telling stories of her old horse Queen when she was just a little girl. Some of our fond memories were cruising around in Old Red and the Caddy listening to eight tracks. Marion will be remembered for her quick wit and her love of a good laugh. She brought humor, heart and a spark of fun wherever she went. May that spark continue to live on in all of us.

My sincere condolences to Marion’s family.
She will be missed by many. RIP my friend.
I’ve known Marion for well over 25 years and I was so impressed by her. She was always so hardworking, volunteering, caring for other Seniors or anyone that needed some help.
She was so incredibly proud of her beautiful Daughter Rhonda and she was also proud of being a Veteran.
I used to love listening to all the stories!
I envied her seemingly unlimited energy and the depth of her kindness when helping others. I shall miss her calling me Donna Dear.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE MARION. YOU ARE DEEPLY LOVED❤️🙏🏻
Even though Marion was my ex-sister-in-law, she was always considered family in my books.. rest in Peace Marion.. 🙏
My condolences to Rhonda and family for the loss of your mom. I still remember the long hike with the dogs up the Stein Valley a few years back. Nice campfire outside at Marion’s house. Great times. Great person.
Thanks for bringing Rhonda into the world, Marion. You were an amazing woman and you will be missed.
Rest peacefully
