In Loving Memory
William Jackson “Jake” Surline

William Jackson “Jake” Surline of Kamloops passed away on October 16, 2025, at 79 years of age. He is survived by his wife Janet Surline, children Oliver (Sophia) Surline of Dunedin, New Zealand and Tiffany (Dave) Surline of Kamloops, grandchildren Hana and Reid Blanken, Jackson and Florence Surline and his sister Judy (Rob) Surline/Weathers.
Born in New Westminster, Jake was raised in various Trans Canada Highway construction project towns before settling into Kamloops for high school. Jake followed in his father’s footsteps with a career working on improving our backroads and highways. He loved most of all driving his Grader. He had a passion for basketball, baseball and his favourite, rugby. Jake loved cars and maintained an impressive collection. Jake’s greatest love was his wife, Jan, and their two children. He was a kind and gentle man who loved a good chat and a laugh and was always there if you needed him. He was an avid member of the Vintage Car Club for over 45 years. He is an alumni of the Kamloops Rugby Club and also played for the Priest Valley Vicars. His sincerity and warmth will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Caveney officiating. Friends and family will continue to celebrate Jake’s life at the Kamloops Rugby Club on Lorne St. at 5:00 pm. Black attire is not essential. The family invites you to wear a Hawaiian shirt to honor Jake’s love for them.
Special thanks to all the supportive members of our loving family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to Royal Inland Hospital Foundation Intensive Care Unit.

RIP, my friend of 45 plus years. Yes, a kind and gentle man. In many ways you set a quiet example of how to be a decent for person for all of us. We all enjoyed the action on the rugby pitch,…and the mandatory post game refreshment.
Jake was a very outgoing and gregarious person who coached a hapless John Petersen girls basketball team in 1965. He had an unmatched patience and a heart of gold. I later talked to him at the big Reunion and we shared a few funny moments from yester years. Thanks for being you and RIP Coach….to a life well lived Jake.
bye bye grampa
