In Loving Memory

Phyllis Kathleen (Kay) Belanger (nee Atkins)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Belanger -our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt

Born in Milden Saskatchewan to Phil and Molly Atkins, Kay was the third child of four and was pre deceased by her Mom and Dad and brother Bill Atkins.

Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband Pete Belanger to whom she was married to for 69 years, Daughter Marie (Jim) Schneider; grandchildren Ashley (Fraser), Cole (Rory), son Gerry Belanger, daughter Joanne (Peter) Dubetz; grandchildren Tom, Ryan (Janelle); daughter Heather (Mike) Ronayne; grandchild Taylor (Clarisse); great-grandchildren Lachlan, Tayven, Gabe, Hudson, Evan, Carson, Jay and Mia; sister Elaine (Dwayne) Wilson and sister Marylyn (Ben) Bell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay’s number one devotion was to her family to whom she worked hard for and loved whole heartedly.

In her younger years Kay played baseball and was an avid curler, even going as far as the Canadian Seniors Curling Championships in 1997 in Thornill, Ontario. Kay’s great sense of humor and wittiness will be deeply missed by all. She enjoyed planning and hosting with Pete their annual Grandma and Grandpa’s Family Fishing Derby for many years, where lots of fun and memories will be remembered by all forever. Kay enjoyed traveling and camping around the province and after Pete’s retirement they ventured to Arizona in their motor home for the winters

We would like to express our thanks to Dr Justine Pierre and the entire Polson Special Extended Care staff and nurses, who provided outstanding and gentle care to Kay and the family over the years.

A memorial service to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Kay’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or to a charity of your choice.

Hi girls, sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. One of those good Saskatchewan girls. My mom also loved to curl. Just one of those things they did. It’s never easy to say goodbye. Just wanted you to know I am thinking about you.
Thinking about you Pete. Never met Kay but not many people see 69 years of marriage. Stay well.
