In Loving Memory

Anna Yaremchuk

In loving Memory of Anna Yaremchuk

(1933-2025)

We regret to share the sad news that Anna Yaremchuk has passed away.  A long-time resident of Vernon, Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Al, her parents, and her brothers, Miron, Bud, Mike, Alex & sister-in-law Pearl.

Mom is survived by her daughter Janet and partner Rick, her son Perry and wife Michele and her grandson Josh.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Eileen, Vera and Pat, and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was a great cook, baker and all-round homemaker.  Her love went into every meal, and her pyrohy and cabbage rolls were legendary. She was also a talented crafter, flower arranger and gardener. Mom enjoyed working at several local drugstores until her retirement, after which she and Dad kept active by walking miles every day, in all weather! She was active in her church’s women’s league, and volunteered with numerous local groups.

Mom was also a member of the cribbage group at the Schubert Centre and kept fit doing “aquacizes” at the pool.  She  especially enjoyed keeping in touch with her many long-time friends, seldom would anyone’s birthday or anniversary go by without her cards and letters arriving!

We were blessed to be her number one priority, and she was happiest surrounded by family;  we are so grateful for our time together and those memories we’ll always cherish. Mom leaves a wonderful legacy of love for her family, and the many neighbours and friends that she touched with her caring.

We would like to thank all the dedicated and compassionate people who helped us care for Mom as her busy pace slowed. With the support of the staff at Canterbury Court and her “helpers” from Kimberly Care, Mom was able to maintain her independence for several years before moving to long term care at Mill Creek Village in Kelowna, making new friends amongst the residents and caring staff during her time there.

We especially want to thank the staff at the Hamlets in Vernon for their kind care over the past year, and Wendy Denman, Mom’s “treasured” friend who brightened Mom’s days with her visits.

Our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Butters and Dr. Waldron, who provided excellent care to Mom for many years, and were so helpful and supportive as Mom’s health declined.

There will be a service at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2210-40th Ave. in Vernon on Friday, September 26 at 1 pm.

Friends and family who will not be attending the service are also welcome to join us for a tea social at 2 pm in the lower level of the church.

Following the reception, there will be a small family gathering at the graveside for interment at the St. Nicholas Heritage Cemetery in Coldstream (10105 Middleton Drive)

Flowers are gratefully declined, but your thoughts and prayers will keep Mom’s love alive and brighten her soul.

She has requested donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I treasure the many cards and letters we sent each other. She was one of the 2 people I kept in contact with through snail mail!
She was my godmother and my favorite cousin. And even though I did not see much of her in person the last number of years, we kept in touch.
She will live on through our memories of her.
We wish you, her family, peace.

I have such fond memories of Ann. When I met Ann I realized that I had found the ideal person to look after my preschool children, Jamie and Cindy. Ann was an enthusiastic and welcoming greeter. She was a happy person and kept Jamie and Cindy busy with various activities. Both Jamie and Cindy expressed their sorrow to hear that Ann had recently passed away.
I have so many good memories of Ann. Over the years she usually gave me no nonsense advice over the phone. Your mother shared several recipes with me that I still have and continue to use occasionally. Because of mobility issues I regretfully will miss Ann’s service.

Thank you Janet and Perry for the photos. Of course in your comments re your mother,
Janet, I learned many interesting tidbits . I was sad to hear that your mother had passed away but will fondly remember her forever.

I didn’t know Anna very well, but when I visited Vernon she would invite me to join her on a morning walk. Our conversations were always interesting and fun. One time, she took me on a walking tour of the town and I really enjoyed learning about Vernon’s history. I remember her being active, cheerful, and kind. I admired her energy. She was active in the community and made beautiful greeting cards. I will always remember her with great fondness. My deepest condolences to her family. May Anna rest in peace.
