Wendy Joan Galbraith (Luttmerding)

December 11, 1958 - August 25, 2025

In Loving Memory

Wendy Joan Galbraith (Luttmerding)

Wendy Joan Galbraith (Luttmerding) was born in Vernon, BC on December 11, 1958 to Harold and Eleanor.  She grew up on Pleasant Valley Road in Armstrong as the baby sister to Gary, Lynne, Sharon and Dwain.  Wendy attended elementary and high school in Armstrong graduating in 1977.

In September 1978 Mom married our dad, Bob Luttmerding and together they had 5 kids; Erin, Adam, Bern, Maryanne, and Kristen.

Wendy was the best stay at home mom that her kids could ask for.  There were always fresh homemade treats when the kids got home on the bus after school.  Once we were old enough she took over the egg business and was “The Egg Lady” for many years until 2002 when she went back to school for Sterile Processing.  This began her 22 year career with Interior Health, with her last job being an admitting clerk at the Pleasant Valley Health Centre.

Mom’s hobbies over the years included pottery, photography, road trips, cooking, baking, reading, canning, camping with Kristen, crafting, gardening, sewing.  She was also a lover of pets including her childhood dogs Tinker 1 and 2 and the infamous 4H sheep that took off from the show ring at the IPE.

Mom passed away in hospital on August 25, 2025 after a brief illness.  She will be missed by many but especially by her kids Erin, Adam, Maryanne (Mark), Kristen (Takara).  She is predeceased by her son Bern, parents Harold and Eleanor, siblings Lynne and Gary, and former spouse Bob.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Zion United Church in Armstrong with tea to follow in the church hall.

I am so sorry, sending my condolences to you all. I have only known Wendy for about 1.5 years but she made a huge impact on me. Wendy was one of the amazing women that trained me in Admitting at SLH and I really admired her, I give thanks to her for her patience and for investing her time and effort into me. I really hit it off with Wendy and am sad we didn’t get the time to visit once she got her dream job in Armstrong. Although Wendy came across as quiet, I got some laughs out of her and always enjoyed our conversations. I am so thankful I got the joy of meeting her. May she rest in peace.

As a cousin of Wendy’s I was allowed to spend at least 2 summers with her and the Galbraith family. All of them true gems. Loved every minute with them on the farm, swimming in the Armstrong pool and Wendy and I would run through the pig pens and throw rotten eggs at them. She was always kind and fun to hang out with. Sad that I never got to know the older version of Wendy, Love to all her children and siblings.

So sad to hear this , gone too soon.

As children we picked cherries as our families got to together here in Kelowna many years ago. Mom and Dad and us kids would drive to Armstrong to visit at the farm . I remember how much we enjoyed the visits the family and the animals. They would come to Kelowna and pick cherries and visit with us. Deepest condolences to all the family.

It’s heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to our friend Wendy. Long after we were co-workers we would gather as friends. Loved getting together with her. She always brought her quiet quick wit making us smile and laugh. She was such a lovely lady I just wish she had more time with her children who we all know was her reason for living. Hugs and condolences to them and her family😔💐
