Very sad to hear of John’s passing. John was one of the scoutmasters at the 7th Vernon Scout troop. He taught us a lot about how to survive in the outdoors, how to light a fire when the bush was wet, how to build lean-to shelters and how to cook over an openfire. Great lessons. Most memorable was winning the chuckwagon races at the Scout Ice Jamboree at the Civic arena!
John was the strongest man I knew! I worked with him and his father during haying season in the fields on Old Kamloops Rd and Coldstream. Always marvelled how he could throw the heavier bales to the top of the hay wagon. The trip back to the farm riding on top of the hay wagon was also very memorable as well as storing the bales in the very dusty and hot loft!
Deanna always had great lunches prepared for us and her special concoction of apple juice and tea kept us hydrated and refreshed during the hot days.
My condolences to Deanna and his family. He was a good man, he will be missed.

John was truly a ‘gentle’man. He believed strongly in his faith, family and numerous friendships he made along his road of life.
We were honoured to know him and to work beside of him for many volunteer years. Lots of great memories.
    He will certainly be missed.
Thank you John for you friendship, support, understanding and wisdom. It meant a lot to us.
    Sincerely,
    Jim & Carol
    Until we meet again!
