In Loving Memory

Rodney Glenn Horsley

Rodney Glenn Horsley passed away peacefully in Vernon B.C. on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the age of 74 years.

Rod was born in Salmon Arm to Arthur and Helen Horsley and grew up in Salmon Arm, Armstrong and Vernon areas. He was an avid horseman showing his horses throughout the Okanagan Valley.  In 1975 he introduced the Appaloosa breed of horse to the Armstrong area, showing and breeding them for a prominent promoter of the Appaloosa, Joe Warren of Langley B.C.  After a few years, he developed an interest in team roping and went on to team rope in the many Okanagan Valley rodeos.   After team roping he began the sport of Cattle Team Penning winning an aluminum 4-horse trailer, many belt buckles and trophy saddles. This sport took him to compete in Wichita Falls, Texas where his team placed third in the Open class.

Rod worked as a lineman for Okanagan Telephone after graduation from school. Eventually Okanagan Telephone became B.C. Telephone.  Rod became an installation and repairman for B.C. Telephone working out of the Armstrong office and covering a large area.

Close to retiring, Rod purchased an acreage in the Falkland area.

Rod is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his two sons, Dan, and Farren (Melanie) and two grandsons, Ethan and Sam. Rod is also survived by his two brothers, Rick (Phyllis), Brad (Joanne) and by his nephews and nieces.

The family and I would like to thank the North Okanagan Hospice Society for all of their outstanding help with Rod.

May Rod rest in peace knowing he will be missed and loved and will never be forgotten.
