Dorothy-Ann Judith Heaton (Harper/Jarmson)
November 25, 1953 - July 9, 2025
In Loving Memory
Dorothy-Ann Judith Heaton (Harper/Jarmson)

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy – Ann Judith Heaton (JUDY) nee Harper/Jarmson on July 9, 2025, from complications related to Neuroendocrine Cancer. Born on November 25, 1953, in Port Alberni, BC; Judy was a beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Judy Is survived by her husband Jim, Daughter Gina (Craig) Galbraith and Grandsons Melvin, Carter, Colby & Braxton Galbraith; all of Armstrong BC. Bonus children, Kathy Heaton (Davis Sue), Dennis (Cynthia) Heaton, Amy (Doug) Gow. Sister-in-Law(s) Nancy Jarmson and Margaret Cooper, along with many Nieces and Nephews. Judy is predeceased by her Parents Jay & Dorothy Harper, Sister Bonnie (Bill) Little, Brother Jim Jarmson and Brother-in-law Dave Cooper.
Judy spent her childhood highland dancing, riding horses and developing her lifetime love of fast cars and music. Known for her impeccable ability to know a song, who sang it and what year it was popular, anyone who spent time around Judy knew that music spoke to her soul and she shared that love of music with anyone she could. Judy also had an ability to know a car based on the engine sound or what year it was based on its body style. In later years she became known for her gorgeous crocheting, if you have anything she made, we ask you cherish and keep it as a reminder of our beautiful Judy.
Judys largest accomplishment came from becoming a mother, this was the one thing she held closest to her heart. The bond she shared with her daughter Gina was her priority; she would talk to anyone who would listen about her. She then enjoyed four times over that same joy and pride with the birth of each of her grandsons; the oldest Mel, being born on her birthday. She left no doubt of how proud she was of her family; they were her everything.
Judy enjoyed twenty-four years of love with Jim, the love of her life. A peaceful love that found connections in their love of music, british humour and soccer. Judy often referred to him as ‘My Jimmy’, she had found her love. Judy also gained three bonus children to love with this marriage, and she treasured the time she got to spend with all of them and their spouses. They travelled to Ireland and the Shetland Islands together; trips where they could connect with their families and explore where they came from.
Judy was a loved friend to many. She had friendships that spanned most of her life and she held those connections close. She thought of them as family and many of their children referred to her as an aunt or second mom. Her sense of humour and quick wit made her the life of the party; she was always ready to crack a joke or enjoy a laugh. She loved to dance; Saturday mornings were always a time to play records while cleaning the house singing and dancing.
Judy worked for the Township of Spallumcheen and the City of Armstrong for most of her working life. She knew countless people in our community and was proud to work in such an important role. She formed many connections from those jobs and was known to have a full rolodex of information in her head.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cypress Funeral Home in Armstrong BC; Friday August 8, 2025, at 11 am. Refreshments to follow. We hope you can join us to honour Judy and the beautiful person she was. There will be music, stories and a time to remember.
You’re in my heart, You’re in my soul
