Sara Epp

In Loving Memory
Sara Epp
Peacefully at the age of 90 years, Sara passed on June 27, 2024 while sleeping shortly after many visits from family.
Sara was born May 20, 1934, in Winkler, Manitoba as the youngest child in a family of 9 to Gerhard and Elizabeth Loewen. While growing up in the Grunthal, Manitoba area with seven sisters and one brother, Sara enjoyed being an active part of the family and community.
At 20, she married David Epp on June 13, 1954, and moved to Steinbach, Manitoba. Together they started a family of 3 boys, Kenneth, Donald and Howard and moved to the Winnipeg area where they raised the family as she supported David during his ministry at North Kildonan Mennonite Church and his entrepreneurship endeavours.
As the boys grew, Sara started working as a travel agent while finding time to continue serving in the community. As time went on, and the boys had moved on to start their own families, Sara and David shared life in the Okanagan Valley and Santa Rosa, California for several years before ending up back in Kelowna, B.C.
After David’s passing in 2015, Sara continued to live in Kelowna, spending time with family and friends. She continued living independently until March 2023 when her health declined rapidly. After a lengthy hospital stay, she was moved to Spring Valley Care Centre where she was well cared for during her remaining days.
She cherished her continually growing families and enjoyed each moment they were with her. She had the loving support of all her family and was additionally buoyed by the love of her nieces and nephew that lived nearby.
Sara is survived by her son Howard (Angela), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and her sister Helen (Frank) Klassen. Sara endured the passing of her husband David and 2 sons, Ken (Beverley) Epp and Don (Brenda) Epp before she found her rest. She is further predeceased by her parents, Gerhard and Elizabeth Loewen, sisters Nettie (Erik) Guenther, Lil (Lorne) Mabon, Jesse (Ab) Melquist, Kay (Henry) Kroeker, Mary (John) Guenther, Agatha (Ike) Guenther and brother George (Helen) Loewen.

Aww 🥰 lovely photos of you Aunt Sara ☺️ 😊
Beautiful photos through the years.
I was privileged and happy to spend time with Aunt Sara over the last few years. We went to the MCC thrift store on Tuesdays and worked there together and then had salad lunch at Wendy’s after. I helped her to go through her possessions and donate some of them to the store. I will treasure the memories of spending time with my Mom’s baby sister and the talks we had about our family. I love her and feel loved by her. She will be missed. Rest in peace Aunt Sara.
Our sincerest condolences. Wishing peace and love to surviving family.
It was an honour to spend more time with her during her final years. We laughed and talked about family. I learned a few things about them I didn’t know before. Rest in peace Auntie Sara.
