In Loving Memory

Cobina Laome Fuhr

Our beautiful Coby was taken from us all too soon after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was well known to many in Vernon due to her friendly and social personality that enabled her to make many friends during her years in Vernon. She was born in Vancouver, BC to Lennart and Edna Fransson. She started her childhood in the USA, spent a couple of years living in Sweden and then to Vernon in her high school years. It was here that she met and married the love of her life, Ron and they had two daughters. Coby spent many years working for the Royal Bank and pursued her dream of opening a restaurant, Coby’s Grill, in the 1990s. It was here she was able to showcase her amazing skills as a hostess and cook. She finished her working years at Lake City Casino, where she thrived with her social skills as a dealer. Nana Coby was a very giving person whether it was her baking, soups or herself. She was loved by all who knew her and she loved those around her with a huge heart. She especially delighted in her four grandchildren as well as golfing, dirty board and canasta with her friends. She is predeceased by her mother Edna and foster parents Joe and Vi Forgo. She is survived by her husband Ron, father Lennart (Jean) brother Wade (Angela), sister Lisa, brother-in-law Jim (Karen)”brothers” Rod (Daneth), Kelvin and Randy (Elise), daughters Kristy (Phil) and Kari, grandchildren Alia, Melanie, Ben and Katey.  A celebration of life will be held June 1st, 2024 at the Grace Bible Church of Vernon 5661 Silver Star Road, Vernon, BC from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.

    Ron & Family:

I was so saddened to hear about Coby’s passing and I am deeply sorry that you have lost someone so special.

It’s true that we lost contact years ago as often happens when our lives take us in different directions, but I have the fondest memories of growing up on the lake and spending countless hours with you and Coby. I’m not sure why but whenever I hear “Band on the Run” I have the clearest image of boats, blue skies, tangled ski ropes, eight track tapes, and the group of us that spent our formative years on the water.

I remember Coby as a gentle soul. She was always more concerned about others than she was about herself. I’m sure that selflessness lead her to have a lovely family, a close group of friends and a community that loved and supported her.

I am thinking of you and hoping you find moments of peace and comfort in the midst of your grief.

    Sincerely, Kathy
