It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Tardi at the North Okanagan Hospice House on February 10th with family at her side, after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her six children, Janice (Dennis) Zazula, Karen (Michael) Grant, Robert (Michele), Mark (LeeAnn), Ronald (Barbara), Gary (Linda), her ten grandchildren Kevin (Karrie) Zazula, Jennifer (Wendell) Owen, Leanne (Jesse) Duss, Stacey (Russ) Mensik, Michelle (Nick) Slovack, Steven Grant, Brendon (Lisa) Tardi, Kristin (Jesse) Smith, Jonathan Tardi, Chantelle Tardi, and nineteen great-grandchildren who she lovingly adored and called her GiGi, her siblings Peter Innes, John Innes and numerous family members and friends. Eleanor was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba and moved to St. Pierre, Manitoba, Thompson, Manitoba and Calgary, Alberta before relocating to Vernon BC in 1986 and to Armstrong in 2017. Eleanor’s first love was her family, but she also enjoyed her longtime career in Sales & Marketing with Prestige Hotels & Resorts, where she had the opportunity to travel and make many longtime friends. A very special thank you to Dr. Gilhooly, the amazing and caring staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital Cancer Clinic, Ambulatory Care, and North Okanagan Hospice House. For those wishing to do so, please donate to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Cancer Centre or the North Okanagan Hospice Society.

I offer my heartfelt sympathy and love to Eleanor’s children – Janice, Karen, Bob, Mark, Ron and Gary, their spouses and the grandchildren. I hope you find the courage and support to cope with this difficult loss. Eleanor was much more than a friend to me, she was like my sister. We had been friends since we were about to enter Grade 1, and we shared many happy and memorable times together over the years, along with her husband Bob. Eleanor and Bob’s lives were filled with love and pride for their children. They both will be dearly missed by everyone who knew them.
