In Loving Memory
Ronald Jacob Stuckel
It is with sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Ronald Jacob Stuckel, 87, of Kamloops, British Columbia. He passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, following complications from pneumonia.
He was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, in 1936, to Jake and Mary Stuckel (Schreiner). He was the youngest of three sons. After losing his mother, at the age of one, his father married Irene Brinkman leading to the birth of three more siblings.
Ron grew up on the family farm just outside of Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan. Aside from helping on the family farm he attended many country dances where he met his wife of 22 years, Marilyn Weber. They married on October 21, 1958. Following his marriage they moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where he worked in home construction. During this time they had three beautiful children, Cindy, Leslie and Colette.
Ron had the gift of rhythm and loved to dance. During his evenings he trained in ballroom dancing at the Dale Carnegie School where he learned the ballroom Waltz, Jive, and Latin American dances. It was in Saskatoon where he would attend many events at the Manhattan Dance Hall winning “Best Rock” dance contest in 1971.
In 1972, Ron and his family moved to Kamloops, B.C., to continue his work in the construction industry, retiring at age 69. In Kamloops, Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and playing in softball, bowling, and floor hockey leagues. During this time he met his significant other, Vona. He lived with Vona until he transitioned to The Hamlets retirement home for his remaining years. Ron loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. These visits also required travel to Alberta, Saskatchewan and the United States for family gatherings.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Cindy (Dave) Parsons and family of Kamloops, B.C. Leslie (Marie) Stuckel and family of Calgary, Alberta. Colette (Robin) King and family of Caldwell, Idaho, United States. Grandchildren: Landon, Keaton, Easton, Amiee, Brittany, Natasha, Tanner and Dawson. Great grandchildren: Kylan, Hannah, Noah, Hailey and Liam. Siblings: Richard Stuckel, Joyce (Wayne) McLeod, Bernice Stuckel (sister-in-law) and many nieces and nephews.
Ron is predeceased by his father Jake (Mary and Irene) Stuckel, Phyllis Smith (sister), Verle Stuckel (brother) and Olga Stuckel (sister-in-law), Dan Stuckel (brother), Peter Stuckel (nephew) and Chella Stuckel (sister-in-law).
Ron will be dearly missed by family and friends. We are so grateful for the time we were able to spend with him and will always feel his presence in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at West Highlands Community Center, 1185 Links Way, Kamloops, B.C., V1S 1S9 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
