In Loving Memory
Ernie E. Meeks
Ernie Meeks died in a place he loved to be – the woods; with a person he loved – his wife Vivian; doing one of his favourite things – hunting grouse. He died at the age of 84, leaving his wife of 62 years, Vivian Meeks, three sons: Everet Meeks, Virgil (April Hamilton) Meeks, and Kelvin (Andrea) Meeks; four grandchildren: Shea Meeks, Desirae Meeks Loffler, Saffanyah Meeks, and Armani Meeks.
Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, brothers & sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, and aunties.
Ernie had a very sociable personality; he loved to chat and visit people. Some of the things he enjoyed was gardening, then sharing it with neighbors and friends. He also loved to fish in the lake or river, creek or ocean. He would fish offshore, but mostly boat fishing and ice fishing were his favorite. He lived most of his life in BC – Mission, 100 Mile House, short time in Williams Lake and Prince George. Finally moved to Pritchard, BC – between Chase and Kamloops.
Ernie was born in Mission, BC, and lived in 100 Mile House area for 40 years in Lone Butte. He was a volunteer fireman for 4 years in Lone Butte, and a volunteer Umpire for the soft ball club in 100 Mile House for 4 or 5 years in the summer months. He was a member of the fly-fishing club in 100 Mile House and belonged to the Rod & Gun club in Mission, BC. He also enjoyed hunting deer and moose while in 100 Mile and had a hobby farm in Lone Butte.
Ernie worked most of his life in a shake mill but did some logging and was in a bad accident and had to look for a different trade. He settled on autobody mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and trucks for most of his life.
Some of his other hobbies included woodwork, puzzles, knitting and cards – he was also a stamp collector. He lived a full life and will be sadly missed.
He requested no services, but the family wish to thank everyone for their kind condolences.
