In Loving Memory
Arthur John Dyck
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Arthur Dyck, who peacefully left this world on April 25, 2023, at North Okanagan Hospice Society in Vernon, BC. He was surrounded by his loving children and siblings, creating a comforting atmosphere in his final moments.
Arthur was born in Lumby, BC, October 16th, 1946 to his late parents Peter (2013) and Bertha (2001). He grew up alongside his brothers and sisters Bill (2017), Marie (Andrew), Tony (Pat), Noreen (Ernie), Rosa (Brian), Donna (Ted), Robin (Coleen), Elizabeth (Dean), Gerald (Mary), and George (Sally). Lumby remained his cherished hometown throughout his life.
Arthur’s legacy lives on through his children: David, Richard (Tara), Laura, and Dustin (Roxanne). Although he was predeceased by his beloved sons Johnny (1974) and Danny (2018), the memories they shared together will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Arthur’s five grandsons, Alijah, Lucas, Marcus, Jonathan, and Nicholas, were a source of immense joy and pride for him.
For many years, Arthur dedicated himself to the logging industry, following in the footsteps of his father, Peter. Together with his brother Bill, he ventured into the world of trucking, demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. From the tender age of 16 until the onset of Leukemia at 69, Arthur fearlessly maneuvered his truck through the logging routes, leaving an indelible mark on the Lumby community. Many will recall his old blue logging truck adorned with a smoking cigar frog on the grill, as it cruised back and forth, a symbol of his commitment and passion.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Arthur found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Camping, hiking, and exploring the backcountry were his cherished pastimes, often shared with his family and close friends. These adventures allowed him to forge deep connections and create lasting memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of joining him.
A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the White Valley Community Centre in Lumby, BC. The event will be an opportunity for family, friends, and acquaintances to gather, share stories, and pay tribute to a remarkable man. Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
There will be a Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m., July 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lumby.
All are welcome to join us as we prayer for Arthur.
The Dyck family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love, prayers, and support extended to them during this period of profound loss. Arthur’s memory will forever be engraved in their hearts, and his remarkable spirit will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.
