In Loving Memory

Rose Marie Currie

September 13, 1944 – August 16, 2026

I am sorry to have to tell all of Rose’s loved ones, and treasured friends that she passed away peacefully and without complaint on Sunday August 16, 2026, at the age of 81. She was caring, altruistic, stoic, and courageous to the end. She approached her death as she did her life with a passionate, heroic heart. I know that everyone that knew and loved her has a treasure trove of memories that they shared with her. She is now in a much happier place than she has been lately.

We who loved her, will miss her very much. Gone but never forgotten.

Rose is survived by her husband Ross of 59 years, her children Nancy Sinnamon (Norm), Jason Currie (Rachel), Jeff Currie (Mariko), and her eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her sisters Lucy Garnham Hagan (Bob), Carol Cavanagh (Gord), Bonnie Tooze (Steve), her sister-in-law Barb Ginson (Archie) and an abundance of nieces and nephews. Rose is pre-deceased by her brother John Garnham (Milly), and her sisters Melba Sloboda (Frank), Kay Fouse (Glen), and Wilma Livingston (Don).

Rose spent the first seventy years of her life living, working, and enjoying life in Ontario. After graduating from Glenview Park Secondary school in Galt Ontario (Cambridge), Rose attended Hamilton Teacher’s College and began teaching elementary school in Galt Ontario. Rose also attended Carleton University in Ottawa Ontario and graduated with a BA in English. For thirty-five years Rose taught language, social studies, gymnastics, and French before retiring in 1999. Not long after her retirement from teaching, Rose moved to be near the Mount St. Louis Moonstone ski area. In Moonstone Ontario she spent her time skiing, golfing, bike riding, kayaking, gardening, playing cards, and quilting. She was invited by her ski buddies to try a winter of skiing in Vernon British Columbia (Silver Star). She enjoyed herself so much there that she decided in 2015 to buy a home and move to Vernon to continue her skiing, golfing, paddling, and quilting. Her heart was taken by the weather, the scenery, the friendly people, and the opportunities of living in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley.

Rest in peace Rose.
